Miniature Persephone ~ Queen of the Underworld

A beautiful hand painted miniature of the Greek Goddess and Queen of the Underworld; Persephone. She was the daughter of Zeus and the wife of Hades and legend tells of her holding the space between life and death.

Here she is depicted in a draped red gown; delicately holding both wheat sheafs and a skull to represent life and death. Three skulls rest at her feet representing the mystical connection between the Goddess and the Underworld.
